Chaos..

I found a corner of Rocky Mountain National Park I had not yet explored last week. Still drifts of spring snow among the vast labyrinth of swirly gneiss boulders know as Chaos, all well above 10,000 feet... Always inspiring to see steep and ridiculously hard boulder problems pieced together move by seemingly impossible move...

Ten Sleep

There are some days that are true gifts. Stunning wilderness, good company, exposure...

Especially days shared with poets. Cadence, meter... A few climbers create a perfect poetry in their flow with stone. Not a struggle but a dance. Sharing a radiant and infectious joy...

The Open Window

The Open Window...

Looking through this window.
Painfully perfect view.

Framed in hand-cut pine, brought from nearby hills.
Guarded glass, long since fallen away.

Open.

Eyes wide and heart pulled,
Through these aching blue skies - to find this not so distant peak.

A Different Day...

Some days it just makes sense to set fire to the original plan and run with something completely random... Today was one of those days... A good day.

This Birthday Wish

This Birthday Wish…

Inhaling these wild and impossible dreams, like the scent of wildflowers carried on these warming winds… Perfect, tiny ephemeral jewels of life’s possibility, scatter across my alpine horizon.

Exploring fingers drift across perfect arching ridgeline spines,
Traverse through soft verdant valleys and beyond.

Summer sun open these new paths, soften long hardened snows.
Scatter the settling stones of stifling memory, sloughing consequence.

Wade with me into this gushing alpine stream. Finding clarity in this needed immersion.
Lost and found again in this slowly warming thaw from winters passed…

Slipped perfect moments recovered in this ache of freedom. Opened possibilities in a life unbound.
